Statement on Phishing and Fraudulent E-Mail

Phishing, or the use of e-mail to fraudulently obtain account information, is a growing problem on the internet today. The goal of these e-mails is to obtain your personal, private information in order to commit identity theft.

In order to better help you, our customers, to protect yourselves from phishing, we will never ask these items of you via e-mail:

  • Credit or debit card numbers
  • Bank account numbers
  • Drivers License numbers
  • Passwords

Because e-mail is an inherently insecure form of communication, we also ask that you refrain from sending this information to us at the bank via e-mail.

E-mail is, and will remain, a valuable tool for communication. Bank staff may from time to time use it to communicate with customers, but will only do so with their permission.
