Financial Conversations with Fitz #91 - Mind, Body, Spirit, and Stewardship Resolutions - 01/05/2011
This is the first week of a New Year!!!!!! What is one topic that covers all our listeners and friends that is timely and easy to follow. Being an active friend of the Y program I am going to borrow from their program that helps improve mind, body and spirit (Did you know that a farm boy started the Y concept in 1844 when he moved from the country to London). I will add one additional one of stewardship…One doesn’t need a complete list of many resolutions or tasks. This method is something we can do in our homes by ourselves or in a community setting with a group of people. These four cross all nationalities, social economic and life styles.
You can pick what you want to do for each of these…..MIND---Do one thing that will improve your mind and attitude….Read something different than the normal newspaper or magazine…Something that will give you a new perspective on an item outside of yourself.
BODY-----Do something good for your body….IT is the only one you get….You can try something like exercise or diet that will improve the daily functioning of it. Most communities have somewhere you can walk. If they don’t, suggest they set up some open time in building somewhere….or shopping centers…I have walked in hallways, basements, tracks, or outside when the surface and weather permits.
SPIRIT---We are all given a source of spirit regardless of our personal beliefs….I need lots of positive energy to keep mine going. Positive attitude and people builds this energy….the opposite uses it up….Look for positive in situations and people first before you look for something negative…It helps and is contagious…..
The final one is STEWARDSHIP that has to do with how well we use our talents and time….This can be doing something positive with how we manage our money…..How we spend it or how we share it…..Stewardship can also be the use of our time to help others…..A new popular idea, that has been around for centuries, of stewardship is also how we take care of the resources we have on our earth….Do we work to save them or do we use up too many of them without replacement? Stewardship also involves taking care of the money we earn. That includes using the right amount so we don’t go deeper in debt.
If we write these four ideas down and post them on a refrigerator, desk or mirror, just give them some thought daily. You will feel better and the people around you will feel better.
My goal in life is to make the world a better place on a daily basis no matter how small it might seem at the time. IT WORKS!!!!!

Remember that you should deal with people in community banks and organizations. When you work with them, you know that you will also see them sitting with them at ball games, church or community events.
